A Magical Christmas in Winchester
There’s a reason Winchester has been nicknamed ‘England’s Christmas Capital’! Perhaps it’s the hint of mulled wine and wood fire on the air as you walk through the magically lit streets, or the ever present reminders of Christmases gone by, there’s certainly something magical afoot when you visit the city in December.
Whether you’re a self confessed shopaholic, or hold the medal for being the history buff of the family, these festive Winchester favourites are sure to get your sleigh bells ringing!
On until 22nd December 2021, the Christmas Market is the perfect place to browse and buy handmade, artisan gifts beneath the beautiful architecture of Winchester Cathedral. Visit in the late afternoon for a truly magical ice skating experience, lit by the lights of the market and a distinct glow of Christmas cheer.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a panto! This year, Theatre Royal Winchester are playing host to a spellbinding performance of Aladdin from 4th December to 2nd January 2021. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, you and the kids can take part in the free Aladdin Magic Lamp Trail at the Brooks Shopping Centre. Find all the hidden magic lamps for the chance to win tickets to the panto and a goody bag! The performance will also be livestreamed, so even if you’re staying in, you and the family can laugh along with the audience and cast from the comfort of your own home.
